My approach to therapy
As an integrative psychotherapist I am trained in a variety of different therapeutic methods, which means that I have a wide range of knowledge, skills and techniques to draw from, in order to tailor the sessions to suit the specific needs and requirements of each individual client.
This may involve using one specific approach or a combination of approaches, at various stages of the therapeutic process, dependent on what is most effective and suitable for each client.
Therapies to help you as an individual
Each of us has our own unique life experiences and this can shape our thoughts, feelings, our behaviours, relationships as well as our core belief systems about ourselves, others and the world. Integrative psychotherapy works on the foundation that one single approach is unlikely to have all the skills required to help all aspects of an individual, but rather each person needs to be considered as a whole and that the therapeutic techniques used, need to be tailored to the personal circumstances of that client.
I will welcome you to discuss what has brought you to therapy and we will work collaboratively to uncover how your past experiences may be impacting on the present. Or look at how negative thought patterns or core beliefs may be leading to vicious cycles of destructive patterns of behaviours or emotions. Learning more about you will enable me to use the right techniques to support you in managing your difficulties through the therapeutic process and beyond, with the aim of helping you towards a more fulfilling life.
Some of the therapy methods I use include:
Cognitive behaviour therapy
Mindfulness
Motivational interviewing
Person centred therapy
Positive Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic therapy
Rational emotive behaviour therapy
Relapse prevention
Solution focused brief therapy
